Tuscany
Private Wine and Food Guide · Tuscany, Italy
Coral moved from Seattle to Florence in 2012 to pursue food and wine writing, and has been based there since. She holds a WSET Level 2, an Italian sommelier certificate from FISAR, and a degree in Italian Studies. Her writing appears in Vogue, Eater, The Guardian, and Condé Nast Traveler. Lonely Planet and Frommer's recommend her tours.
Her operation, Curious Appetite, runs culinary and wine experiences across Florence and Tuscany, led by a team of bilingual Italian sommeliers, food historians, and guides. The Tuscany wine tours are private, full-day experiences visiting wineries selected by the sommelier team based on the guest's palate, knowledge level, and interests, covering Chianti Classico, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Bolgheri, San Gimignano, and lesser-known appellations including biodynamic producers in the Garfagnana and Cortona.
The private tour intake process is unusually thorough: guests complete an in-depth questionnaire before the itinerary is built. The result is a day calibrated to what you actually know and want, not a standard circuit.
The Curious Appetite sommelier team selects producers based on quality and character, not profile. Alongside the well-known appellations, they work with biodynamic makers, small family operations, and off-radar traditional producers that don't appear on standard Tuscany itineraries.
