Burgundy
Private Wine Guide · Burgundy, France
Tracy first came to Burgundy in 1992. She spent several seasons guiding on the luxury hotel barges that cruise the region's waterways, then moved into wine, advising clients at a prestigious Côte d'Or wine cellar. She founded Burgundy by Request to do both at once: share the region with people who wanted to understand it, and get them into the cellars worth visiting.
She founded Burgundy by Request in 2010. Four years working in a prestigious wine boutique in Vougeot gave her the cellar-level foundation. Practical studies followed: wine judge for the Guide Hachette and Feminalise, instructor for the vignerons of Pommard's wine workshops. Then back to university for the Diplôme Universitaire, Vin, Culture et Oenotourisme from Burgundy University, one of the few non-French holders of the qualification.
Tracy's itineraries are built around independent family domaines: the 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation estates that define Burgundy at its most genuine. Not the co-operatives, not the large négociants, but the producers who make wine because their family always has.
