Emily and Nicolas run Paris Wine Girl from Lyon, and they both guide. Emily is an American sommelier with ten years in France, and she also judges wine competitions and teaches. Nicolas is a French wine educator who teaches WSET courses and is currently working on Wine Scholar Guild programs. This is not a pair who learned Burgundy from a guidebook.
The producers they work with don’t have tasting rooms. They open their doors because Emily and Nicolas have spent years building that trust, and because the guests they bring can hold the conversation at the level the winemaker expects. Emily describes the access plainly: the producers know them, and they know their guests want to understand what the winemaker is doing.
Days run across Burgundy, Champagne, the Rhône and Beaujolais. Champagne is where their most knowledgeable guests tend to ask for the most depth. For travelers who want the whole route built rather than a single day, they design full trips, now extending into Provence and the Côte d'Azur: stays, tables, growers, and trains included.
The Burgundy domaines worth visiting are rarely open to the public. Access comes through years of trust.
